Jonathan Davis

Jonathan Davis

Jonathan was born in London in 1957. At university he decided that film history was more interesting to him than art history because, with film, the technological and economic process was much clearer than it was for painting or even architecture. Accordingly, on completing his art history degree at the University of Bristol in England, he left for New York University to do his masters in film history and theory.

Jonathan worked on a number of features and then went to Columbia Pictures. In 2002, he was hired as Director of Marketing at another new distributor, Teleculture and spent much of the next two years getting ready the theatrical release of Berlin Alexanderplatz. Then he returned to London and began a career devoted to film and television policy.

Since 2002 he has been an advisor to the UK Film Council, working on European audiovisual policy and co-coordinating the European Film Agency Directors network, an informal organisation that brings together the heads of the national film funds from around Europe.

Since May 2009, he has been working as an advisor to the Polish film industry.
