Participant profile: Sylvie Lussier

It’s back to Canada to meet screenwriter and President of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Society of Authors of Radio, Television and Cinema (SARTEC), Sylvie Lussier.

Prior to working in television Sylvie studied at the Université de Montréal and was awarded her M.D. in veterinary medicine in 1980. Since 1989, she has co-written several drama series for television and radio.

Among her achievements are writing for the serial drama 4 et demi…, which was awarded 9 Gemini Awards,  L’inconscient, a radio drama show, Zoolympiques, shows and assignments on fauna and flora broadcast by the Radio-Canada television network during the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 and Salt Lake City in 2002, and the show Bêtes pas bêtes plus, which has also received numerous awards.

She also co-wrote the screenplay for the feature film L’Odyssée d’Alice Tremblay (Alice’s Odyssey, 2002), wrote for the television series Les Aventures tumultueuses de Jack Carter (2003) and the on-going drama L’Auberge du chien noir, which has been broadcast on Radio-Canada for the last 7 years.

Sylvie collaborated on the concept, scripts and hosting of the afternoon section of the Gemini Gala 2000 on the RDI network, and co-wrote and co-hosted the literary show M’as-tu-lu? for two years at Télé-Québec.

Since 1998 Sylvie has been a member of the Board of Directors of SARTEC, and is now President of the organisation.
